Anticipations surrounding the next Princess Diaries installment are mounting and Anne Hathaway is totally feeling it! During her recent appearance at the Sundance Film Festival, the Oscar-winning actress opened up to the media regarding the long-awaited addition to the beloved classic franchise, which actually catapulted her into stardom.
The Anticipation
Reportedly, the upcoming Princess Diaries film is currently in development. While Anne Hathaway didn’t reveal much about the project, she acknowledged the thrill and level of excitement of the fans and admitted that the cast and crew also felt the same. The superstar also acknowledged that this long wait for a sequel, almost two decades in this case, can get very frustrating. But as per Hathaway, it’s normal in the movie business and it’s a process that requires a lot of patience. And we all know that patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet!
The Sequel
Now 40 years old, Anne Hathaway made her film debut with The Princess Diaries back in 2001 at the age of 21. The news of Disney developing a third Princess Diaries film was broken around November last year. Aadrita Mukerjee is reportedly set to write the screenplay of the new sequel. While promoting her latest film Eileen at the Sundance Film Festival, Hathaway revealed that she has been tied to the Princess Diaries film series for a few upcoming years for the potential next chapter of the franchise. The return of other star casts like Julie Andrews and Chris Pine isn’t confirmed yet. Interestingly, just like Anne Hathaway, Chris Pine also made his film debut with the franchise and now is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Though it’s not clear if Pine is going to reprise his fan-favorite role of Nicholas Devereaux from The Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement, the audience still can’t wait to see what happened to their teenage queen!
